On Wednesday, all of the K/1 classes launched our PBL Ocean Conservation project to engaged and fascinated students. Mr. Elias (a parent) was spotlighted in a video made by Mrs. Rossi, in which he was shown coming out of the sea after scuba diving. He unfortunately found a few "friends" while he was diving. He showed the kids a bunch of plastic bags that followed him, and questioned them about the effect the plastic may have on ocean animals. Our students took it from there! They brainstormed ways we could help keep plastic out of the ocean. We began documenting how many plastic baggies we used during snack and lunch. We're doing this next week (Oct. 20) as well. During this time, please don't alter your use of baggies. Do what you would normally do. Next will be how we can cut down on how many baggies we use, but for now, just send your normal snacks and lunches the way you've always done it. The Room 14 conservationists will continue their data collection and we'll let you know the results later!
